The compound's, purpose, construction, usage, security, and capacity for long term viablity to sustain occupants in a safe secure comfortable hidden location since 2005, in the heart of Pakistani military retirement community means only one thing. Pakistan has known the location of Bin Laden for years and Pakistan essentially had Bin Laden in protective custody for the past six years. It is impossible for him to be held there for that long without Pakistani government being aware of it.
It's tough to know who you can trust in this war on terrorism. The reason the U.S. government did not include Pakistan in the operation was to guarantee the element of surprise. Bin Laden has lots of friends in the Pakistani government and he would have been warned the Americans are coming for you.
