Shock: New York Times Praises Unions Once Again

The NY Times supports unions. That's nothing new. But is the New York Times itself unionized? Yes it is unionized by the Newspaper Guild of New York and that includes about 1,300 workers. In 2009 this union guild agreed with management to have their salaries reduced by 5% in order to save about $4.5 million in salaries at the NY Times. The deal gave union members 10 more days off every year in exchange for the salary cuts. Sounds like a very civil relationship between the NY Times and it's employee unions.
